Am I correct in assuming this is like an IC engine, where the 'power strokes' have to occur at different times, unless a large number of cylinders are present?

replacing the piston with a membrane = pure win.... no friction with zero precision needed. I'm gonna make one of these to take heat from my PC and replace the power LED with some cool spinning thingy (just for fun ofc)
hope there's some heat left in my power supply... all rest is gone via home made water cooling :(

u replaced the piston with a membrane... that's genius!!! (srsly) now i can make one myself using nothing but junk... as a toy for my "solar death ray" to play with
also adding something like this to the PC processor heat just for fun to replace the power LED with some spinning thingy on the case

I like this motor and sound!!! =D=D , like diesel hahaha

...ooh man! does this machine have a sweeeeet rhythm ..... chugga ghugga
-
it's cool, some people don't get it, a lot of noise that has it's own rhythm, and when i heard this the 1st time, it sounded just like a diesel engine idling at low rpm , and i was like, neato!, anyway, glad you now understand me when i said about the diesel engine running at low RPM :)

lol, my bad XD. I misunderstood you

@rdt0t, no duhhh i know it's a stirling engine :P it sounded like a diesel engine idling at low rpm, listen to it's rhythm -_-, if you cannot get it's rhythm, then you got a problem houston :P :P :P
Any particular reason for the 3 or 5 "odd" number of cylinders?

@TheSdenne yes, better torque distribution.
