This is a video of how a neutrophil (and other cells of the immune system) move to the sight of infection. Notice how they squeeze through the endothelial cells to get into the infected tissue.

The endothelial upregulation of adhesion proteins at inflammatory sites represented in the video I would assume be ICAM-1, VCAM, CD99, perhaps V-cadherin? It looks like integrins are being represented at the point of PMN adhesion, making the cell "glow". What is this integrin subtype? Also, does anyone know what PMN proteins are being shed upon integrin adhesion? Is this SIRP alpha being represented of are there other molecules being proteolytically digested to promote extravasation?

during diapedesis, molecules bound to the neutrophil bind to receptors on the endothelium. This basically makes the WBCs "walk"...
also, heparin and histamines facilitate their movement through blood vessels by making the vessel larger and preventing coagulation :)
hope that helped!
