great playing.. in my humble opinion i thought dans solo was much more interesting than jacks.. its obviously just my preference, but i liked the pentatonic ideas and the lines seemed to have more rhythmic variety. loved the st thomas quote at the end :) was it jim hall's version? i cant remember.. really enjoyed your playing dan anyway

Hi, Jack Wilkins has been my idol and mentor since I started in Jazz, so I cannot describe what an honor it was to play with him. As much as I like a compliment, there is no way to compare my playing to his - I am not even in his league... if anything, it may be my comping that is not comfortable for him to play over. Great to hear you together, Dan. Any chance of a reupload with better video conversion? The original looks to be OK but I can hardly make you both out (visually that is - aurally, I can pick you both a mile away!)

Hey Paul, Thanks! I wish I had a better quality video but the darkness inside and light outside make for a deadly combination in terms of filming there. I do have good quality mp3's of most of the gig which I will post separately.

oh, im not putting him down as a player at all, i've seen him play before and he's an immense musician! i just thought in this particular video there are harmonic ideas that i prefer in your playing to his.. although maybe it is your comping ;) great vid anyway
