You can find the answer to that if you ask yourself whether an un-free market secures the survival of the un-fittest--or whether it ends in death camps. The fact of the matter is _everyone's_standard of living improves under a free market. Capitalism is the exchange of value for value; it is not enacted at the expense of others, but at their benefit. It's a controlled market where you have no say in what products you consume, and value isn't exchanged for value.
The highly decorative books on the shelf behind the guy who begins each and every sentence with the words "I mean ..." are easily 3 times larger in number than all the books that Ayn Rand has read in her whole life. She clearly preferred writing some books herself. Today, she would spend her days watching the Glenn Beck program.
At least call it corporatism... hey, bottom line is that when the government has control of huge amounts of money or the ability to make money out of thin air, expect a nightmare.
I would just like to point out that most atheists I know are not crazy Randians. Many of them are ashamed that Rand is listed within their ranks. I just try to ignore those ARAs on the fringe of the atheist movement and hope that most people realize that not all atheists are like that.

Is social Darwinism not more like a free market, survival of the fittest capitalism approach?

I say this so people will stop and think before grouping all of us atheists with the moronic socialists out there
