hey ross, great videos but my questions are is it safe to buy boxes from card kingdom?
-
Do you think any time in the future you might try to map WoW cards?
I think that would be rather interesting if those cards use maps.

@durangoislaw -- Your local labor pool must not draw heavily from the undergraduate populations of nearby universities. :)

I don't know where you live, but the folks at my local barnes and noble are far from lazy.

Now I know you said not to buy cards loose from stores in to completely prevent pack picking, but what about the packs from walmart that are packaged in there unique cardboard and plastic?

@Plasmacarnifex - Those are pretty safe. Nobody is going to try to map with boxes of those, because only the mass-market channel even gets them, and they ship in boxes of fewer boosters. Your main hazard at Walmart, etc, is that people just open the packs sometimes and throw them back on the rack if the rare isn't good... just make sure you check for signs of obvious physical damage.

The only way I see this being profitable is if you have a shop from which you can unload loose packs and make some money since nobody online is going to buy loose packs being hip to this game.

@TheGamblingApocalyps - Collectors are definitely getting savvy to avoiding loose packs from online dealers, and that's a good thing. This is still a very effective way to defray the cost of booster draft and sealed deck play.

Someone could stack their deck hardcore with this in limited as well. Map the box, grab the ones they know have bomb rares in them, pocket the packs they get when they buy in a draft and swap them with ones that have Skittles/Masticore/Vat in them or use packs with cards that are normally worth crap but have rares that are good in draft like Genesis Wave.
I doubt many people are willing to buy a box just to improve their chances at a draft though.

@TheGamblingApocalyps - Indeed they could do that. My local game shop shuffles the packs before draft, but perhaps not all stores do. I would encourage everyone to advise your local game store to do that, even if you don't think anyone is mapping. The more randomization, the better. Draft is supposed to be about skill.
