We're going to be looking at 3 different things today - The position of the mic on the speaker, The angle of the microphone and the distance of the microphone from the amp.
We'll be using the SM57 microphone on kieran's line6 vendetta HD amp and line6 cab.
Ace!
Decent audio samples, but your definitions of 'muddy', 'clear', 'bass' etc are completely at odds with how pretty much every guitarist perceives them.

You don't know what you're talking about... This upsets me. For a start you have stated the exact opposite of what actually happens...In the centre of the cone you get MORE treble and less bass, and you need to axis a little maybe to adjust the clarity.. If you move to the side of the cone then you GET MORE bass because bass frequencies travel outward.. You have LITERALLY stated the opposite of what actually happens. Please don't try and teach people before understanding yourselves...

could you explain that far placement a little more? the angle of the picture is not too great. how far back is that, and is it pointed at the center of the speaker as well?

@thedolf1 informative and funny. yup thats gay. oh wait, i forgot: having a video that shows you these examples in less than 25 minutes, let alone 7 minutes, is definitively not gay.
