The video begins with Mary G. Russell, DTM, talking during the leadership breakfast. Next we see Rodger Cota, District Governor and a brief clip of Helen Blanchard, the first woman to ever become a Toastmaster. Blanchard eventually went on to become the president of the entire organization.

Then we see clips from the Speech Evaluation contest. The purpose of this contest is to evaluate a model speaker's presentation, then contestestants leave the room for five minutes to prepare an impromptu evaluation of the speaker.

Evaluation contestants were Lynne Street, Erick Brownstein, Yolanda LaVerde, Karen Logan and finally first place winner Sherwood Jones.

Then there's Rodger in the hat.

The final segment is the humorours speaker contest. First contestants participate in their local club, the winner goes on compete in their area, division, and finally here today at the district level.

Humorous speakers shown, in order: Donna Oja talks about dating, Eldonna Fernandez talks about e-dating,
Jennifer Ofo Addo talks about cell phones, Tiffany Brown talks about the plight of being short (or in her words: more down-to-earth) and first place winner Richard Kim talks about metrosexuality.

Thank you everyone for making this conference a huge success.

Video created by Ed Lyman, special thanks to Tina Tomiyama and Aliyah Levin with their assistance.

    hi Yo

  • Great work :)

  • yolanda laverde is my aunt

  • This video would make a great "Public Service Announcement" for your are membership run on a Public Access Studio.

The video Production was well done. Moves along very well, not boring.

The sound needs to be a little better. Mike maybe could be closer to the speakers.

Looks like your club has a lot of fun.

Remember a crowd draws a bigger crowd.
