Kili Senegal Parrot - Teaching Flighted Retrieve to Parrot

Here is a video of the first time I worked with Kili on two way flighted retrieve. In my past videos you may have seen my hand the ball to Kili and call her to fly to me with it. But this video is the first step in making her to get the object to retrieve herself and then come back with it.

I began by having her walk from chair to chair with the ball and then I spread the chairs a little so she would have to hop and eventually fly between them to fetch the ball. I kept working on it till I could hold the parrot, drop the ball, have her fly down to get it, and then bring it back up to me. Imagine how useful that must be for old people? Rather then bend over to get the keys, you just send the bird. Now that is dedication.
