I Don't Think About That Now
words and music by Paul Bradford

There's always tomorrow until it's midnight
I might be wrong but I may be right
'cause there's a void where once was a light
but I don't think about that now

I don't have much money and I don't have the time
I'm spillin' my blood and they drink it like wine
they pick the fruit and spit out the rind
but I don't think about that now

they know I see through their game
when I look into their eyes

I'm not a savior but I'm also not Satan
I wait for my turn and it seems I'm still waitin'
it's all for nothin' and it's so degradin'
but I don't think about that now

they know I see through their game
when I look into their eyes

I once had dreams but I tore them apart
they lay in pieces alongside my heart
I should have seen this all right from the start
but I don't think about that now
I should have seen this all right from the start
but I don't think about that now
no I don't think about that now

  • hi Paula!! thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • hi paul. what i like the most about this song is the backing instruments. they are playing an upbeat, uplifting kind of riff, which is in direct contrast to the serious lyric. a songwriter who didn't give the construction much thought, might easily have played this as a three chord miner key, slow ballad. but this not only explains a stoic point of view, but it is dance-able, which is a good thing. i also like the retro sound of the lead guitar and the vocals. five and favorites, chuck.

  • hey Chuck! thanks my friend. yeah, another paradoxical lyric/music thing that I like to do. thanks for noticing. I also tried to get that "Ricky Nelson" kind of vocal sound, and you caught that too. you rock!

  • That was great!

  • Terrific quasi-amusement park themed chorus, particularly off the almost to the point of silliy peppiness of the verse tempo.

I like the opening verse, but for some reason loved the second one off the chorus. Relistening it wasn't much difference, just the contrast gave it a different feel.

  • Paul ..this is an awesome song my friend
