How to change an iDevice's carrier name (Without Jailbreaking) on iOS 3.0 or higher

DISCLAIMER: Do this at your own risk. This will not change the actual carrier, just the name displayed in the status bar.

Because YouTube doesn't like anything that could possibly resemble HTML in the description box, I can't put the left and right carets. Therefore, when you see ( or ) replace it with the left and right caret respectivley.

Open the file labeled "Library/Prefrences/com.apple.springboard.plist"

The code is: (key)SBFakeCarrier(key/) (string)Carrier(string/)

Change "Carrier" to anything including iPod, iPhone, iTouch, etc., but note that some symbols cannot be used such as & (Sorry you can't make it say AT&T)

Paste the code on the first line of code OR under: (key)SBEnableOverlayControls(/key) (true/)
on about line 25

---Note that wherever you decide to put it, it will end up on that line.

@cambizaca57 It should (unless this method has stopped working by Apple), but you can probably find a better way to do it with a tweak from Cydia (unless you've already looked and that's how you found this video).

@kevin19186 You can copy the code regularly with Ctrl + C, but you can't paste it with the shortcut. Instead, you have to click the clipboard looking icon.

I don't know why you can't type though. Try restarting your computer.

I can't get it to work either, checked everything, I have an iPhone 4 with 4.3.5. Tried twice, didn't change a thing, when I checked the file, the code was there. So I don't really know what the problem is.
