Korb's premise is flawed because he thinks the taliban can be "routed out" of Afghanistan. That's like saying the Babtists can be routed out of Missouri. What does he propose, that we ethnically cleanse the Taliban by removal or genocide?

I think if we put 1% as much money into fighting drug *demand* here at home in the U.S. as we spend fighting drug *providers* in Afghanistan AND Mexico, we could cut into the cost of fighting both problems immeasurably, at dramatically lower cost in both dollars and lives.
