Mr. Zamperini epitomizes the vision of America that I held as I was growing up in post-WWII Japan. People of my parents’ generation hold America to the highest pedestal – as I still do today as a naturalized U.S. citizen – because of the forgiveness and compassion shown to the vanquished. That was an amazing grace at its finest. My 2-minute video message of gratitude on YouTube was created for WWII veterans and their families. Please watch and share. Thank you.

Louis Zamperini's story is so incredibly vast & unbeleivable; credit Laura Hillenbrand for again (like with Seabiscuit) unearthing an incredible story & telling it completely & compellingly. She spent 7 years writing Unbroken.

One amazing fact. Louis had run the mile in 4min06 at age 19 when WWII suddenly broke out. If it hadn't, there's a chance that Louis would have been the first to break the 4-minute mile barrier, in advance of Roger Bannister.

Fantastic book. Read it. Awaiting movie.
