Offering a Guided Gold Prospecting Trip. Gold Guaranteed! NOTE - EDIT Since Hurricane Irene, all the big rock I had planned on moving are 200 yard down stream. All the gold would have moved a well but not necessarily rested near the same rocks. All the dirt in the Creek washed further down stream. The Creek water level was 9 feet above normal at it's highest point of the Hurricane. but I Have some great locations as to where the gold re settled. Can't wait to go get it this Spring. (2012) - Showing a new pool that I begin to dig for gold. Locating the right type of pool is the key.
second, you have to be able to tell if the pool or pocket has been worked recently. If it has not been worked for at leas 5 years or so, gold will reload in the pocket.
The gold is not in this flood layer. This storm moved more than 100 million tons of rock & dirt. The brook is deeper. Where there was big rocks jammed together, there is a trench & bare bedrock. Amazing. The gold seems to be right on the bedrock and very little, (flour gold), is in the flood gravels. If you are going to pan for gold in the Vermont flood areas, be prepared to dig to the bedrock. Or you will have a long day of finding very small flecks of gold. Dig Deep!

All of the streams in East Central VT have some gold. As long as they run to the Connecticut River. It is tricky panning in VT vs some streams I have panned in NH. VT streams have a lot of flat rock. The gold seems to work it's was down to the bedrock. So the best thing to do is look for bedrock that is sticking up through the gravel. Then dig down to the bedrock and clean out the nooks and crannies with a siphon tube.
