  • She is gorgeous. Are you happy with your choice of an American Mastiff? Wea re on the waiting list for one right now and was just curious how your experience has been thus far.

Thanks in advance for your insight!

  • @czoubek,

They are worth the wait. Everywhere we go we get bombarded by people interested in the dog. They have great personalities and all around an amazing breed. The tighter jowl lines definitely helps as well. I have a feeling once you get attached to this breed you wont buy any other dog breed.

    :)

  • I have a brindle Bull Mastiff named Bella also:) She looks so much like an english. I do agree with you on the mastiffs personality, I couldnt have rescued a better dog than our Bella, they are gentle, stubborn, love kids, smart, protective of their humans. I can't say enough good things about them:D

  • so sweet. My big Mastiff girl, Bella, loved the water too.

That's great. :) I'm interested in large dog breeds, but almost all of them are sick breeds. Only exceptions are breeds like broholmer and great swiss mountain dog. And mixed breeds of course are pretty healthy if I'm correct. I'd really like to have an AM, I'm thinking about coming to US and picking up one of these! :) Don't know if they sell them overseas though..

  • @berry0201 They're fairly healthy overall for large breed dogs. But obviously, as with any large dog, they are prone to hip problems. They're one the longest living the large breeds, average length is 10-12 years- better than some breeds! And hardly any maintenance with their coat, minimum shedding and less drooling than other breeds due to the tighter jaws

  • I have an American mastiff and I would never have any other dog. She's calm, sweet, and such a cuddler. Truly a gentle giant, they're the best!

  • OMGG your dog has the cutest face ever!!

  • they are beautiful dogs where can i find a pure AM?

  • @bcribdog

Is it true that American Mastiffs are relatively healthy for their size? Usually large dog breeds have many health issues. I would love to buy one, but we don't have any breeders here in Finland. : /
