The Aubrey family trilogy - of which The Fountain Overflows is the first book - is one of my favourite reads of all time! Funny that The Return of the Soldier should be the main novel she is remembered for, when this is so much more fantastic!

Rebecca West, the author of the very magnificent Black Lamb and Grey Falcon, is very unjustly forgotten today. Thank you for this much deserved hommage to one of the greatest authors and journalists of the 20th Century.
