@allthatgladys It sounds like it could be shin splints. There are a few things that can happen in that general area that will cause pain (stress fractures, bone bruises, etc), but the common injury are shin splints. Does it hurt more when you run? Do that backs of your calf muscles feel tight? If so, it is most like shin splints and the exercises in the videos should help alleviate the pain. Good luck!

My shin muscles feel really really tight and sore during the first km of my usual 12km run which forces me to reduce my speed. I have difficulty lifting my foot up when ever it happens. Do i have shin splints?

It sounds like shin splints from the way you describe it. Shin splint pain is usually felt on either side of the tibia on the front of the shin. If you rub your fingers down the front of the bone and it feels like one long bruise going the length of the lower leg, that is most likely shin splints. Try this exercise to see if it gives you any relief. If not, let me know and we can discuss some other ideas.
