I don't use final cut but I have a new computer now and the problem has gone away as well but thanx for the suggestions folks!

I'm pleased with the picture quality but still don't understand why I can't burn a dvd straight from imovie with SOUND?? Any suggestions?

looks like you are using HD format - perhaps you require a blu-ray burner?
