Tabacco, alchohol, and even caffeine actually have physical withdrawal symptoms (and are therefor physically addictive, where as marijuana isn't) yet nobody considers them to be gateway drugs.

A combination of misinformation, prohibition, and propaganda is the real issue. Kids discover that marijuana is pretty harmless, and they figure "hey, those anti-drug commercials lied about pot, I guess the lied about other drugs as well" (which they have, but most kids don't look it up first).

It is amazing the lies people will propagate in order to protect thier jobs. It is really sad that we live in a world where truth is abandoned so easily for profit. Apparently money is the root of all evil - yet the irony is our country would benefit financially from marijauna legalization. Even sadder the FBI man is afraid of corporate leaders that can have him fired if he doesn't say what he has been told to say and protect the cash of like 100 familiies that drain the country like vampires!

truth is its even more complex,

people who use harder drugs smoke weed, i mean if you arent afraid of coke you certainly arent of weed.

also because smokers found out the government lied once about the harm of derugs(weed) they might think why not with other drugs, thus finding out other drugs arent as harmfull as they where told and use them(or at least that happened to me) i live in the netherlands and our lower harddrug use is more because of proper education rather then legal weed.

@shortandproud4life america and the rest of the world! amsterdam people are so fucking lucky... I live in England and there aren't many people I know who haven't tried it... If it were legal the government would save a shitload more cash becuase they wouldn't have to raid dealers and "fight" drugs.
