I uploaded the part that comes right before this back in December 2007. To get everything in the complete context, go here first, then come back and watch this scene:

Now, as to this scene, "I'm Pond Scum," Cass goes to Felicia's on Christmas Day 1989 after she calls him all upset over the Mitch and Rachel situation and Frankie tells him to go and see Felicia. But while he's there, Cass does some unburdening of his own soul and confesses to Felicia that he slept with Cecile, and he didn't tell Frankie that he *did* sleep with Cecile, but he also didn't say that he *didn't* sleep with Cecile. Cass berates himself as dirt and as pond scum, "and I'm the pond scum that's at the bottom of the pond, not the top." He has no idea what to do. Frankie is the best thing that's happened to Cass in a long time, but he's blown it already. Felicia's reaction is honest (Cass has to ask Felicia to stop hitting him). Cass tells Felicia that he really cares about Frankie, he doesn't want to just sleep with her, and he's afraid that she'll think that's the case if she finds out about him and Cecile. Felicia tells Cass that he has to tell Frankie the truth, if for no other reason than for his own safety. Cass wonders how he's supposed to tell Frankie. He doesn't want to hurt her, and that's the truth of why he didn't tell her. The conversation then switches back to Felicia and Mitch, and Felicia's fears that she has lost Mitch because while Felicia doesn't believe that Rachel really wants Mitch back (and she doesn't), Mitch is acting as though Rachel is his responsibility, as though Rachel is his wife, not Felicia. Mitch has rediscovered his obsession with Rachel. Cass says that Mitch will realize it's over, he'll be back, and it'll be like it used to be. Felicia isn't sure it can be the way it used to be for them. But she assures Cass that she'll be fine and asks Cass what he's going to do about Frankie. Cass doesn't want to tell her the truth, but he doesn't have any choice, at least not if he wants to keep Frankie in his life, which he does. He tells Felicia to wish him luck, and she frames his face in her hands and tells him he's going to need it.
Unfortunately for everyone, while Cass is talking to Felicia, the Spirit of Christmas Pettiness, better known as Caroline Stafford, is taunting Frankie about Cass and Cecile, as you'll see in the next clip, and that makes an already difficult situation much worse for both Cass and Frankie......
Vintage Cass & Felicia. No AW *couple* was more honest than these two. One of my all-time fave scene(s).
