To My Eternal Valentine -- My Gift of Heaven -- My Heavenly-Resplendent Wife -- My Barbra Rose. Happy Valentine's Day 2012 to us! I remember hearing this song as I viewed the feathery clouds which you painted for me across that azure sky on Nov. 9, 2010. I pray and hope you can hear this from your mansion and rose garden in Heaven. You remain the Darling of My Life, My Barbra Rose. Come back for me very, very soon and take me back to Heaven with you. I miss you beyond words - beyond Time

I rediscovered this splendid tune on November 9, 2010. That was little over a week after I learned that The Darling of My Life -- My Heavenly-Resplendent Wife -- My Barbra Rose, was terminally-ill with cancer. My Barbra died on Nov. 22, 2010. She was only forty-three years-old. We were married for only two years. My True and Eternal Love Barbra, I pray and hope you can hear this song from your palace and rose garden in Heaven. Thank you, Perry Como, and kssenor, for this magnificent song!

Two singers, to my ear, were particularly influenced, vocally and stylistically, by Bing Crosby and they were Dean Martin and Perry Como. I think the legendary Frank Sinatra, too, was influenced by Bing but I'm thinking to a lesser extent. Love this Perry Como song! Thank you for the post.

The song IS French. I thought it was. It doesn't really matter, just enjoy it. But the composer is Francis Lai. I don't think it's that important in the wider scale of things. But it is a very French melody.
Id rather hear Perry sing then sinatra.
