Men suffer from virgin shaming and women suffer from slut shaming.

If a guy is not sleeping around he is seen as a "sissy","fag","loser" etc.

Women get prude shamed too trust me, usually for not making ourselves sexually available to men, who react by labelling us as "frigid" or a "cold bitch". I'm not denying there is definitely pressure on men to conform to societies expectations of masculinity by having lots of sex, but the pressure to be sexually available and sexually active exists for women too. We're just more likely to then get slut shamed too if we do have sex, or even appear to do so. - B

Isn't conventionally sexually attractive, just what we mean when we say some one is sexy? Am I missing something here?

I think we have all been prude shamed/ slut shamed to a greater or lesser degree. Isn't it just funny?

There is a mistaken belief that if someone does not fit the media or 'conventional' definition of attractive (for women usually white, thin but with curves, able bodied, cis etc) then they're not attractive at all. This is simply not true, attraction is entirely relative meaning it varies from person to person.

No I don't think slut shaming or prude shaming is funny at all. I think it's bullying and highly damaging. - Becca

I think the bottom line is that everyone just needs to mind their own business, because who is having sex with whom and how is really only the business of the people concerned. All this gossiping about other people's sex lives is sad, bad and dangerous because so often people get it wrong and the only reason I can think of why people want to talk about other peoples sex lives is to make them feel better about themselves. Judging others for whatever reason is just horrible.

I've been looking at womens magazines and "Closer" has womens bodies and sex all over it, anyone would think all we do is obsess over our bodies, have sex and nervous breakdowns all between diets. It's a very twisted view on life but seeps into our minds, young girls need educating, there's nothing wrong with having no interest in fake tans an even sex and romance.

@4:30 That part really spoke to me. I'm really insecure. In high school I got no male attention. I was one of the only people who didn't have a date to prom nor did I ever have a boyfriend. I look and feel a lot better now, but I still think in the back of my mind: who would ever want me? I'm 20 years old and have never had sex and it's mainly b/c of my insecurity. So when people make fun of me for being virgin or prude shame me it really hurts, b/c I guess it makes me feel even more unwanted.

I was prude-shamed in high school by a girl who was one of my better friends. Having someone imply that I a) was too up tight/highly strung in general then say that b) the only remedy was sex did not feel great. At the time I had no interest in a physical relationship, in fact, I wanted nothing more than a loving emotional relationship with anyone, friendly or romantically. It's so damaging for a woman to be doing nothing wrong and harm no one and be made to feel bad about it.

Oh I have been prude shamed. I've only had two boyfriends and I don't plan on dating again anytime soon becouse for some reason I enjoy being single more for some reason. I've had people make fun of me becouse I haven't done it and I'm 19. I have no interest in losing my virginity I just want to do my artwork.

One of the more bizarre things I have heard about virginity (or at least its definition) is in the US where young Christians were having anal sex because in their mind, the only type of sex that God frowns upon is the kind in which the penis penetrates the vagina. Notable arsehole Dan Savage coined the term "saddlebacking" to describe it.

Its funny for multiple reasons, the main one being that God can apparently be caught out on a technicality.
