Coca Mama is a simple love story linked to a complex subject. Coca is a word with multiple connotations and contradictions. In a small and remote village in the high jungle of Peru's Quechua-speaking mountain communities. the government threatens to eradicate the people's coca fields. Following their ancient custom, the coca growers send their harvest up into the high Andes, where people traditionally chew the leaf to give them the necessary strength to survive the hard work and the difficult living conditions. A powerful conflict arises between legitimate coca growers, drug lords and government forces. The film is an allegory for an ongoing struggle, but the more fascinating aspects of the film lie in the villagers' relationship with the coca plant, which includes rituals, methods of clairvoyance, and even social codes of conduct. The juxtaposition between the coca plant's place in local indigenous traditions and in the global economy is thought-provoking.

@luisernesto2006 Latima que una ves mas el hombre y su ambicion malogro una planta que es en realidad un simbolo patrio, porque como dices, aun es muy usada en la zona andina y no como DROGA, ya que la coca tiene muchas propiedades medicinales.
