Well, my calling Timoshenko Belorussian WAS a mistake. But there was no such thing as a Ukranian,Russian or Belorussian flag at the Olympics(watch any Barcelona video for it).Kostina DID win the selection tournament held specifically for the purpose- much more relevant than the 1991Worlds.

Both Skaldina & Timochenko competed under the Ukrainian flag at the 1992 Olympics. Kostina came to Barcelona as the reserve gymnast, but was sent home before the competition started...
Skaldina was the current AA World champion at the time, so naturally she was chosen & Timochenko was awarded Master of the Sports at the time too. Kostina didn't have a chance. Perhaps this is why Kostina won EVERY title at the 1992 Worlds?

Kostina says that for her, it was a successful year though it's hard for her to think of the olympics.And then she thanks the people who came and says that she will try to go back to Japan when she can
