John Smith On Education

John Smith stresses the importance of a proper education:

Today, I'd like to introduce you to my family. Remember the old TV show My Three Sons, with Fred McMurray? That was a good, wholesome family show. Well, I have three sons, too, all named after heroes of my mine: Karl, Fidel, and Che. That's Karl for -- Karl Yastrzemski, the great baseball player. Fidel for -- Fidella Reese, the great singer and star of Touched by an Angel. That was a good, wholesome family show, one of my family's favorites. And Che for -- Che Leno, host of The Tonight Show, another good, wholesome family program.

What are you kids doing? Homework? That's a good, wholesome family activity. Education has always been very important in our family.

What are you reading there, Karl?

-- Das Kapital.

A book on capitalism? Excellent. We want our kids to understand and appreciate the free-market system. Good work, Karl.

What about you, Fidel?

-- Mein Kampf.

Ah yes, the sequel to Yours, Mine & Ours. Now that was a good, wholesome family picture. With Lucille Ball and Jane Fonda. Not Jane Fonda. Henry Fonda! No, we don't watch Jane Fonda movies in this household -- except for Barbarella, but that's a classic.

You see, even my youngest has his nose buried in a book. What's that little red book, Che?

-- Mao's Little Red Book.

Ahem. The Little Red Hen? Maother Goose Nursery Rhymes? Oh, I loved those when I was a kid, didn't you? That's some good, wholesome stuff the whole family can enjoy. Keep up the good work, kids.

Education is the key, folks. As president, I'll make sure that your children are properly educated, too.
