Welcome to the Asia Filmfest 2009
For the sixth time the Asia Filmfest takes place from October 29th until November 8th in Munichs Gloria Palast and Mathäser Filmpalast. Over 50 new films from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan plus a Park Chan-wook retrospective await you on the big screen. This years highlights include DEPARTURES, the Academy Award Winner for Best Foreign Language Film of the year, a delightful and sensitive journey into the heartland of Japan from Yojiro Takita; VENGEANCE, high concept action cinema from Johnnie To; THIRST, a bloody funny provocation of a melodrama from Park Chan-wook; Derek Yee's hard-boiled, interracial gangster flick SHINJUKU INCIDENT with Jackie Chan, and RED CLIFF, the most expensive Asian film production of all time, a breathtaking war epic that marks the triumphant return of John Woo, to name just a few. The festival gives you the chance to see the current films of Asias most creative and celebrated filmmakers. On October 29th there will be the popular opening party. We are looking forward to welcoming you at the festival!
