A recently released study from the Clean Air Task Force reveals alarming levels of toxic trace minerals in water runoff from the placement of coal combustion waste (CCW) in coal mines. This flies in the face of Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection claims that the practice is safe. This short video warns folks across the nation to stop this practice before it's too late.

  • The coal waste issue is not new. Coal-gasificatioin plants produced coal waste between the 1880s and 1960s. They never met resistance from dumping their coal waste because they could dump it anywhere they chose. In the south, they chose to dump the coal waste in Black neighborhoods. Now Blacks are dying from diseases caused by coal waste at alarming rates. According to Physicians for Social Responsiblity coal waste causes heart disease, stroke, cancer, and respiratory diseases.
