Four-part series in which British art historian Dr Gus Casely-Hayford explores the pre-colonial history of some of Africa's most important kingdoms.
The first episode looks at Nubia, in what is now northern Sudan, a kingdom that dominated a vast area of the eastern Sahara for thousands of years. Its people were described as barbarians and mercenaries, and yet Nubia has left us with some of the most spectacular monuments in the world.

@TemplarX2 I said nothing about "Afro-Americans" dumb ass. And for your information ALL Africans are related and are ultimately from the same family - whether on the continent or in the diaspora.

@GagnezTV I want whatever crack you are smoking. Afro-Americans are from Western Africa mostly and have little to nothing to do with Nubians. Nubians were tall, slim and very dark like Southern Sudanese. They re depicted as such by egyptians.

@luckyceltic69 well maybe we just adopted to living with the land instead of ripping off everything, this is why we still have the most diverse wild life....people should be appreciative of africans for not being gluttons when using the planet resources...imagine if africans started consuming as much resources as the United states...this world would not sustain itslef

@simbakafiri Oh yes Iam well aware of Africa's prominent resources. Its a shame how your people dont get to reap the benifits of the resources. That continent north of you just likes to get tehre hands in anything and pay one or two people nicely while others work like slaves to get the resources. I hope things change. And Iam sure the will. Also doesnt a certain country in Africa has enough water for the whole continent for teh next 200 years. I believe its in the ground all fresh water.

@luckyceltic69 africa is still the wealthiest continent in resources...you can't use a computer, drive a ferrari, eat chocolate, drink coffee, wear diamond and gold, make currency of copper and silver, have nuclear power without getting the resources from AFRICA
