A quick overview of a full length instructional video of the artist Barbara Stanton painting a miniature oil painting from start to finish. The painting is a landscape titled: "Mossbrea Creek" which won "Best of Show" at the 2008 Sierra Artists miniature art show in Mariposa, Ca. The full length video features a section on color mixing and theory and how to make a miniature canvass.

  • I'm a miniaturist. I love to work with great detail in small scale.

Here is the definition of Miniature Art :

A genre of fine art historically dating back hundreds of years.

At least, 1/6th scale. Delicate & painstaking technique that withstands magnification. 25 sq. in. or less. High in quality. The work should exemplify Fine Art ~ demonstrating a mastery of composition, color, values etc.

    Thanks for asking!
