Buck Owens playing at his Crystal Palace venue in Bakersfield. Buck played lead guitar with a style he created on the Fender Telecaster.

Initially Buck was a session guitarist at Capitol records in Hollywood. Then he was signed to a recording contract by Capitol and the rest is Legendary music history.

He later taught Don Rich his style. Buck and Don became the Lennon and McCartney of country music. They were really like two that became one when they were performing together.

The sound they created in country music or any kind of music has and will not be duplicated, they had a synergy that was Heaven sent!!Buck Owens music lives on in a slew of artists today, but there is nothing like the sound of Buck Owens and the Buckarooos in their prime.

Some of the singers and groups Buck Owens influenced are : The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, The Byrds, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, The Eagles, Poco, Pure Praire League, Creedence Clearwater Revival,Monty Byrom, Big House, Derailers, Dwight Yoakam, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Trace Adkins,George Dukas, Radney Foster, Joe Nickols, Gary Allan, Gary Alan, Sarah Evans, Leanne Womack, Garth Brooks,Dixie Chicks, Rodney Crowell, Darrell Singletary, The Clash, The Radiators,Merle Haggard,Randy Travis,Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift,Willie Nelson,Waylon Jennings,Ringo Starr,Billy Bob Thorton,George Strait,Tracy Byrd, Patty Lovelace, Martina McBride, Reba McIntire...The list could go on forever!

  • well i'm not gonna dispute anyones word about Bucks guitar pickin. But I only know what i've seen and heard Don Rich do, he made the Telecaster what it is today. I would think that good country music singers like Vince Gill and Brad Paisley, that are execellent guitar players also would want to show their playing talent like they do. I am fan of Buck Owens and the Buckaroos music. With that being said Don was Bucks sound. No one's picking has done more for country music than Don Rich.

  • Wow, this makes me wonder how many wonderful guitar shenanigans I've mistakenly credited Don Rich for over the last 40 years of listening and loving Buck's music!
