http://www.nucleusinc.com/medical-animation This 3D medical animation demonstrates techniques used in bariatric surgery (weight reduction surgery) for obesity, including stomach staple. Bariatric surgery is performed if weight loss efforts through lifestyle changes and medications have been unsuccessful and your body mass index, or BMI, is above 40 or above 35 and you have life-threatenign condition, such as heart disease of diabetes. There are two types of bariatric surgeries; restrictive and malabsorptive. Gastric bypass or Roux-en-Y is both a restrictive and malabsortive procedure, while banding techniques are restrictive procedures and biopacreatic diversion procedure is a malabsorptive procedure. • Weight reduction surgery can be very helpful for morbidly obese patients. Good luck to all who are contemplating weight reduction surgery!

  • I always am anti-surgery for weight loss efforts. I wish that people could just start becoming healthier individuals instead of just thinking about weight loss. Anyways, if you're reading this and considering surgery, what percentage of willpower have you given restricting your diet in the past? If not 100%, then this surgery isn't for you! You should give it your all before considering something as serious as surgery! Good luck and GET HEALTHY AMERICA!!!

  • There is a better way.

  • thts the painful and expensive wayy or lets call it "the hard way"... the "easy" way is simple.... JUST WORK OUT GOD!!

  • dont do it..

  • all this are so much helpful for people who are not able to excersise and critically need to put down weight ! but its very sad that young people are going for this... this is specifically mentioned for the people for bmi above 40 ! and the hospitals and doctors bent upon making money are ignoring all this !!!

  • @Sinbad yeah.. i still dont believe that its a good idea to have a weighloss surgery.. I suggest you try weigh loss program like WeightLossAction.Info.. they have the best diet programs that i ever tried...

  • whos the pioneer of this procedure?

  • I been looking into this for a while an although I understand what some people say about about just stop eating or do more exercise, sometime it can just a be a medical issue, like, I have alway been in shape but after hurting my lower back in iraq just walking hurt and since i cant run or go to the gym my weigh has exploded going from 200lbs to 320lbs in a year, and the weigh on my back makes it worst i have lost about 30lbs right now i'm 290lbs but i been starving myself

  • I don't understand the need to be sliced open like this. Just STOP EATING! How hard can it be. Just don't eat. I don't get people.

  • not for nothing, but this is type scary!
