I feel the same way. There is burmese guy who is now in NY who brought out a set of drums and he often plays at events. His name is Kyaw Kyaw Naing. He has a CD out

It's such a shame that there's nowhere in the US to study this wonderful instrument. Burmese music is so unique, and American musicians like myself can't properly learn the arts or even acquire the instruments. World musicians need to spread awareness of the the arts of saing waing and other burmese music to larger countries so this beautiful art form may be preserved for future generations around the world.
