Polka dot clown things?
-
saw this the other day (have a chopy on DVD) after Bill's explanation he said "I suggested to the producers, since that was more difficult they give you $50,000 and they suggested I drop dead" RIP Bill Cullen.
-
Should have just given him the money if he failed on the last questiopn. . It was their glitch preventing his proper travel across the board. Glad he got it.
-
The polka dots were probably used as an alignment guide for the slide projectors behind the screen tiles so all of the projectors displayed the letter tiles in the same way (size, positioning). Just a guess.
-
If he blew it, we would have assumed that he was given a second chance.

Wonder if that was the model for the modern day internet "Easter Egg?"
hehe....
If I recall correctly, what followed this Gold Run was the first appearance of John Hatten, who was the only solo player to win $120,000 on the show. BTW, Pat & Liz McCarthy were the only family pair to do the same.

We think that that is where they put the slides.
