  • Wheel seal went and caused teh bearing to run dry when then seized up totally causing a broken drive axle, most likely a ruined housing and hub to boot. Ouch...

  • @goofyexponent oh yea, gotta get another dana 60, this is what happens when you go buy a truck and drive away without checking gear oil level, wont make that mistake again haha

  • Ps. Thats Ford tough!

  • @richmistar250 hahahaha hell yea! the only thing holding the brake drum and axle on was the shot pieces of bearings that were wedged in such a way that the wheel still moved, but half of the bearings were gone lol.

  • @warrior350yam That 1993 I got INSISTS on eating up rear wheel seals. I am not sure what the cause is, but the vent isn't plugged, they are good quality seals and I drove tehm in right with the proper tool.....mught have a bent hub or something.

  • not lookin to good cuz

  • @johnyrebel188 My dad and I were having this Argument today... I think Dana/Spicer is a Divison of Eaton Corp the same company that builds Semi transmissions.

  • Dana spicers well known axles were made for chrysler (dodge and jeep) Chevy and ford I dont know why people say there ford owned...thats like saying dodge owns cummins. Dana also make plenty of other parts besides axle components and assemblys. Danas are nice, Im putting a D-60 up front and a gm 14 bolt in the rear of my chevy rig.

  • @richmistar250 if u use it right ford rear axl is the strongest of the BIG 3 i have a 69 dode dart i barfed up 2 crysler 8 3/4 shuregrip dif then i put a ford HO 8.8 non dana type i havent even been able to shutter it it seems prity toff it hase 381:1 with 225 60 r 14s its well with in toerance =3-

  • @panzerkampfwagen123 correct me if im wrong, but, i thought early 70's were 3/4 ton only(most likely a closed knuckle d44) and that 1 ton was introduced in 77 with the open knuckle king pin dana60..... therefore, I DO NOT think a 1971 Chevy would have come with a Dana 60. Like i said, correct me if im wrong.

  • Ha Ha Dana was not just a Ford company they are under everything just like American axle hope your tube didnt suffer

  • Check your bearings much? Operator negligence right there, those bearings were toast.
