Since taking control of the House last month, Republicans have introduced several major anti-abortion bills that women's rights activists say could place severe limitations on access not only to abortion, but complete reproductive health and family planning services. We speak to Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, which provides family planning, contraception and abortion services at more than 800 clinics and health centers across the U.S. serving more than three million patients a year. No federal dollars are used to fund its abortion services. "The most ridiculous part, for those proposing these bills, is that Planned Parenthood does more to prevent unintended pregnancy and the need for abortion than any other organization in America," Richards says. "This is not what the American people voted for."

You know what's really funny, the Tea Party claims to be all about the constitution, and yet the very thing these folks are trying to pull IS unconstitutional. For those of you who don't know, this bill is considered a bill of attainder. Simply put, a bill of attainder is one that convicts someone without trial. That's EXACTLY what happened to ACORN and what WILL happen to PP unless we take a stand. Read the Contract Clause in Article 1 Section 10 of the constitution and Article 1 Section 9.

Behar and Richards are both lying. 1) Abortion is their PRIMARY function b/c that's where they make their money. Gee, I thought liberals HATED evil, profit-seeking corporations. 2) They DON'T DO MAMMOGRAMS, folks. Call a PP office and ask yourself. 3) The 350 MILLION they get from the taxpayers every year is NOT segregated from the abortion actiivity...it goes in to the same pot as their other income. And they take a full third of that and blow it on self-promotion.

You say what you do is not about abortions but about the care of women who cannot afford health care otherwise. This is for women down on their luck but also includes women that have never worked a day in their life, those here illegally and deadbeats. You talk of freedom while insisting I work to help pay for the abortions and other services we provide through taxes. Where do you find that working Americans owe your group anything at all?

Loved this piece! Thank you Joy Behar for shining a light on the comprehensive health services PP offers women and men. "Planned parenthood does more to prevent unwanted pregnancies than all anti-choice groups combined". Preventing pregnancies means educating the public, providing birth control including condoms, and keeping healthcare available to all women and men. Great piece. Funny that the conservatives aren't caring enough about women to care about what happens -after- a baby is born. Ver

@alowlyapprentice Reality is they kill babies. Even the lady who was the "Roe" Vs Wade worked at an abortion clinic, and is now pro-life. She saw the horror of the little bitty baby parts thrown away and often left.
