My Bass Box

I am fortunate to have a small plot on Long Island where I enjoy growing some of the food my family and I eat. Front yard, back yard, on the side of the house, wherever the sun reaches the ground I've tried to make something nice and tasty come up out of the dirt.

I already had some Sunflowers, Swiss Chard and some Red Pepper plants growing along a walkway to my front door but decided to make the yard even more abundant by adding an additional box that runs East, West along the north side. It'll make good use of the sun that hits there from early morning on.

The Cabbage, Swiss Chard and Kale I've planted in it will make good dishes for us.

I had heard about a woman named Julie Bass who was being harassed by her town about her growing food, so I've affectionately taken to calling the new box my "Bass Box".

Catchy right? Maybe we should all have one... Start a trend...
