Release concert for Enter The Haggis' first live album, 27 Sep 2002, Healey's Pub, Toronto, Ontario.
This is the direct continuation of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfAHsUxAHqk.
Brian Buchanan's fiddle seems close to ignite, but it's James Campbell's drums which explode into a frenzied, 5-minute-long solo, for which he uses every iota of his jazz drumming background. My friend who taped most of the show tried to catch my flailing around (I never stopped) but the crowd on the "dance floor" (space from a table removed near the stage) was too packed to see anything, so he wisely pointed at James to watch the master in action!
This may be the only footage ever of this wild fiddle and drum solo, a staple of the last set or encore from ETH's shows from about 2001 until 2004, when the tunes Brian uses got incorporated into new material for the new albums (particularly starting with Casualties of Retail). Also, they often had less time to play, and at 13 minutes for the whole, it cuts into a lot of material. This dates from the time they played 3 sets per night.
They have promised me to see if they can work on a new type of solo, but I do understand it's difficult to schedule in now that they have such a long and rich backlog of songs to choose from. I'm glad I have this to remember it by - and now I can share it with all the other Haggis Heads!
We need to see more of this!!!
