Um, yes. Before the crash near RDU some years ago, USAIR and others flew many prop flights. After the crash, the public, thinking that somehow they are safer, began insisting on flying in small jet planes instead.

South of Morrisville's Koppers Rd, before it was fully paved back when without the shopping centers. Hmmm, over 10 years ago at least I'd say. I'm sure Google knows the details.
