  • You MUST read his essay, to fully appreciate what he's saying. It's one of the funniest, most endearing things I've ever read. I'm a 60-year-old lady.

  • @SarahLee1 ...... way to regurgitate exactly the point Hitchens made, he specifically said funny women tend to be dykes or Jews or some combination. Also unlike women male comedians aren't on the whole bad looking, being male is quite enough. For women the bad looks are what force them to take on the masculine comedic quality that most men have intrinsically.

  • @SarahLee1 This is probably more evident in my country, Romania. There's so many girls who look really well at a young age and would rather focus on their physical rather than their mental development aka. they whore the town rather than going to school. This sorta lifestyle is not something you easily get out of. By the time their looks start to fade they're already close to middle aged. How many people do you see starting their university degree after 25 without prior education?

  • @SarahLee1 Umm actually, inherited hotness is going to alter your personality completely. Seriously, think about it, the way you look affects your personality tremendously. Imagine you're in middle and high-school. If you're an ugly boobless chick the other kids aren't gonna be nice to you. If you're hot and developing early you'll have every boy's attention and every girl's envy. At that age, the way people look at you kinda sticks to you in life even after you grow up.

  • @LittlerDragon Thing is.. all around there's more funny men than funny women. He's not even arguing that, he's observing it and taking it for granted. Everything he says from that point is merely his interpretation for why this is so. If you think that his basic premise is wrong and that there are more funny women than men out there, then that's fine, maybe you just have a different sense of humor. The premise, however, generally applies to the majority of people.

  • @Jbear9 umm which one? could you send me a link?

  • Christopher hitchens is a freaking genius.

  • I think it would be worth spending $trillions inventing technology to bring him back,

  • @rogan71 Of course it's sexist -- Hitchens was a notorious sexist, and that will naturally inform his position on anything involving gender relations. Just because he presents it with confidence doesn't make his science solid. I disagree that his conclusion is obvious, and i disagree that he's right.

  • I get what he's saying BUT there are funny women in my family but they are older and it's dry wit.

    RIP Mr Hitchens.

  • @cauda123 its just the way of the nature

  • @mekkabon if 9 of 10 ppl (very different, even women) that i talked to, said exactly same thing, i take that as generally accepted... period
