Here we see FEC 101 leading Train 101 out of Jacksonville's Bowden Yard. This is my first time ever seeing FEC's SD70M-2. If you look at the beginning, you can see the Enginneer wave at me. BTW while I was waiting on them to leave, a FEC employee in an orange ATV thing talked to me for a little bit. They weren't lying when they said FEC Crews are friendly!

  • Oh ok. Is that an AC traction unit?

  • I believe its a DC unit...If I'm not mistaken the Aces are the AC units and the M-2s are the DC units...

  • That lead unit looks like an sd70ACE

  • Nope...its a SD70M-2, FEC only has SD70M-2s in their fleet...CSX, UP, BNSF, KCS all have Aces...

  • Is this shot at Sunbeam Road?

  • YESSIR!

  • Lucky son of a gun, FEC is the best!

  • an sd70ACE is an AC unit along with the sd70MAC. The MAC is a very good unit that is hauling most of the USA freight system right now. The ACE looks great on the outside, but has quite a few problems. ( AC units are very complicated ) I don't know anything about M-2s, but I tend to like DC units for their reliability

  • What is the best time to shoot the FEC trains there? I was at Sunbeam Road with 3 other railfans at 2pm on a Sunday, but no train came.

  • Thank You, good camera apparently, I appreciate your information.
