Because it is all black, like a shadow, the movement can seem to be in both ways.

Well, because of the beginning we see its CW.

An interesting fact tho is that some people can't see this illusion and only see him moving one way only. It is all related to which side of the brain we use more and the ability to use both so we can see both rotations.
