What breathtaking talent. They don't make them like him very often.

28 July 2010. We just heard with sadness of Raphael's recent death. Sadness because today we picked out an old LP record we bought in the 60s, "Songs From A Village Garret". and played it, complete with its scratchy grooves. It features Raphael's wonderful guitar picking and light voice. This album became an inspiration for our own music making over a lifetime . Vale Raphael, Renaissance man. .

I last saw him at a party last month where he was hale, hearty and looking forward to new projects. A couple of days later he was knocked off his scooter in Newport, RI where he has been living in semi-retirement.

Raphael sadly died this evening (18th) at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence,RI

this little trip to the past was fun.
