  • It's simply not true that cameras only record narrow frequencies of red, green, and blue. Image sensor manufactures usually aim to match the spectral absorption curves of human cones in the retina as characterized by the CIE. The CIE standard observer curves are actually quite wide-band near-Gaussian distributions with a significant amount of overlap between the the three types of photosites. They are very different from the very narrow-band laser-like curves you've presented in your chart.
