The habitat of this rookery near Jefferson Island, New Iberia (New Iberia Parish) in South Louisiana consists predominantly of bald cypress - tupelo swamp and button bush. The spectacular wading bird rookery supports thousands of nesting birds each Spring. Shown in this video clip are nesting and fledgling roseate spoonbills, white ibises, snowy egrets, cattle egrets, little blue herons, great egrets, tri-color herons, and an American alligator. The clip ends with a view on a crawfish chimney, and live oaks bearing Spanish moss. Filmed on June 5h, 2010, by Suzanne Fredericq.
