bttfspencer had good advice. dip the canopy in Future and it's even OK to stick it with Future. Testors also makes a special clear parts glue as do other companies.

no offense or anything, thats just the best option/ technique when handling these parts. I didn't want you to mess it up.

It was not a good idea to use extra thing tamiya cement. You should have used testors clear parts glue, before that I would have soaked the clear parts in Future floor wax to give it a more glassy appearence.

Future floor wax can be a decent glue for clear parts.

I use micro mask by microscale for masking. For attaching the canopies,I actually use Elmer's white glue.
