Young singers should listen, this is the real thing, not the little, white voices of today's singers, and that is 99% of teachers today is the way they teach, many call themself 'Master Teachers', but they never stepped on the stage

@numetutelare HAHAHAHAHAHA MA DAI LA NETREBKO E' BRAVA NEL SUO REPERTORIO...DI CERTO NON SI PUO PERMETTERE VERDI!
-

On stage del Monaco could and did sing soft. In the recording studio his wife constantly urged him to sing louder claiming she couldn't hear him..hence the difference.

There are too many ignorant people in the world who feel they simply must voice an opinion, even on subjects about which they know nothing. Anyone who ever heard Del Monaco live knows, no Otello of the last 60 years ever sang so much piano as he did. One asks,"Where are the great singers?" Perhaps the real question is "Where are the great conductors, who make it possible for - or are even interested in allowing - the singers to sound this good?" People like Mitropoulos, Serafin, Gui, Votto...

Dimitris Mitropoulos was a great conductor and benefited by the Gods to die on podium, while rehearsing Gustav Mahler's 3rd Symphony. (Milan, 1960).
WHAT A CAST!!!! La Cerquetti was a real singer that stood up to anyone. And they say del Monaco did NOT sing soft!!!! I hate stupid people who know nothing!!!!

Conductors like Mitropoulos and Serafin as well, knew the voice and what it needed to function correctly in performance...
