A second video of my brother's 3 point mounted log splitter. This time, the tractor is running at 1400 RPM, with the PTO in high range. Cycle time with the splitter is still acceptable. Was able to crack a pile of knotty maple down without ever lugging the engine once.
At low RPM, the Yanmar is very quiet, compared to the noise put out by a air-cooled gasoline powered splitter. Fuel consumption at 1400 RPM is absurdly low.
Where can I get a log spliter like that one?

I think that it's quite dangerous how you put your hand on the ram like that. It would be safer if the distance between the ram and the wedge was larger and the splitting capability was achieved by a wide back end of the wedge. It would work faster too - requiring less travel.

I had a YM 2000. And I miss it.... Didn't know the little Yanmars were capable of running a wood splitter... Thanks for the video!
