Stravinsky - The Rite of Spring - Introduction.

Done in my Classitronic style, Classitronic is what I call electronic classical music with my style being heavily influenced by Isao Tomita.

This is the first part of the classic Stravinsky ballet The Rite of Spring which caused a near riot when it was premiered in Paris on May 29th 1913.

The rest of this work is to follow, so watch this space :-)

Soft syths used on this included the Arturia Minimoog V2, Arturia Moog Modular, Arturia Jupiter 8V, Arturia Yamaha CS80V and soundtoys effects. The next parts are being done on an analogue modular system so it should sound even better than the virtual synths used so far.

  • stravinsky would hate this =s

  • @Violiiiiin Maybe he would, but he was also a great breaker of convention in his earlier years, I'm just changing the conventional sounds used, the score is still the same.

  • It is very difficult to "rescore" something this impressive and well-known with very different-sounding instruments, and I'm very impressed with how you treated this. Not over-the-top, but just carefully and thoughtfully reworked. It is an enjoyable listen, and you maintain its serious nature, and do not go overboard with weird-for-the-sake-of-weird synth voicings. Nice work.

  • @schwansongs I can definately say that it is difficult to rework "The Rite", this was an initial attempt, I will be redoing this again soon, with new techniques I have been working on since this was made. There is a fine balance between making different enough and keeping the score recognisable

  • beautiful. cant wait to hear in all analog...kinda curious on why the orig started a riot.

  • @deadlover73 It was so different from what was classed at the time as tradtional ballet music, some loved it, others hated it and it was the shouting match and then near riot in the theater that made it famous. It still sounds modern and fresh and mould breaking almost 100 years on and set up stravinsky as one of the great composers of all time.
