Janet Fendos and her class at Forest Home Elementary demonstrate this activity break, which has students pass the ball around the class answering questions after catching. A good quiet activity, it can be used as support for academics--for example, using it as a review day game. You can buy a pre-made ball or create your own by writing on a beach ball.

Grade Level: 3-8

Addresses Physical Education Standard 1: "Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities."

Requires: A beach ball with questions on it. These balls have numerous questions on them, many are by subject: health, science, history, match, sports, etc...

This video is shared as part of the Active Schools Initiative, which provides strategies to teachers and students for motivating students to be physically active outside of their physical education classes. http://dpi.wi.gov/sspw/physicaled.html

Video produced in 2010-11 by Milwaukee Public Schools with support from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Thanks to Janet Fendos, Forest Home Elementary, and the students!
