http://sciencecastle.com/sc/index.php/courses/enroll/452 - Did you know that wherever you are, you are in a watershed? What is a watershed anyway? This class will answer these questions and many others. We will look at where our water comes from, where it goes, and what happens to our water along that journey. A crucial part of many watersheds are wetlands. Wetlands provide many services for humans, wildlife, and the environment alike.

We will explore the topography of watershed, the many functions of wetlands, and take a look at how we fit in to the big picture of all of this. Water is an important component of wetlands and watersheds, so we will pay special attention to some of the properties of water and other aspects of water science.

After experimenting and observing all the factors affecting our local and global watersheds, students will gain a new appreciation for Earth's most unique compound. We will also discuss ways to conserve water indoors and out, and even come up with new ways to save water at home.
