Robena Reid's mother, Marie, entered a Boston area hospital in December of 2006. Her mother was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer affecting the pleural membrane surrounding her lungs. While in the hospital, her mother contracted an intestinal infection caused by Clostridium difficile. Because of this hospital-acquired infection, her mother was unable to receive treatment for the cancer and passed away shortly after. Robena has become an advocate for improving care and testified at the Massachusetts State House to encourage public reporting of hospital-acquired infection.

  • I am so sorry for your loss! She is in heaven with my Mom.

She died from sepsis! she had staff, c-diff, septic yeast blood infection!

and a bedsore! My Mom beat cancer only to die from sepsis from hospital infections!

I am sending a petition to the State Attorney's office. God Bless you ...BUT THE INFECTION RATE IS UP FOR ALL INFECTIONS IN HOSPITALS TODAY!!

  • This same thing happened to my Father, but it was only Pnuemonia he was admitted for in April 2010,and passed at home by advice of Hospital head Dr.Oct 1st. 2010 !You see the antibiotics let the disease grow!!As killing All good Flora!!So no one can be treated for the original disease!!!Because its already turned the patient immune to any treatment what so ever!!!

  • Thanks <3 xoxox

  • i couldn't have said it any better...

  • This has really touched me, I am so sorry for your loss. but you know what they say "someone's loss is someone's gain." And together, we WILL fight until we recieve what is right. You had to endure so much as a brave, beautiful, independant, and amazing women... and I congratulate you because there JUST might be someone out there that needs YOUR love, support and experience. Amen.
